CloneView Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how CloneView ("the App") handles information when you use the App.

CloneView is developed and provided by Tomonari Oikawa ("we", "us", or "our").

1. Summary

CloneView is a client app for browsing and playing files stored in remote storage services configured by the user. We do not operate a cloud service for your files, and we do not intentionally collect analytics, advertising identifiers, or tracking data from users of the App.

Most processing is performed on your device or directly between your device and the remote storage provider you choose to connect.

2. Information the App Processes

The App may process the following information in order to function:

  • rclone.conf and related remote configuration data that you import or edit in the App
  • OAuth tokens or similar access credentials stored inside your remote configuration
  • Remote file and folder metadata, such as names, paths, sizes, timestamps, and MIME types
  • Cached thumbnails, preview files, streaming cache files, and temporary exported media files
  • App settings stored on device, such as language, theme, active remote selection, thumbnail preferences, and cache size settings

3. How Information Is Used

The App uses the above information only to provide its features, including:

  • reading your remote storage configuration
  • connecting to user-configured storage providers
  • listing files and folders
  • generating thumbnails and previews
  • streaming audio and video
  • sharing files or streams with supported external players
  • remembering your in-app settings
  • managing local caches for performance

4. Data Storage

CloneView stores certain data locally on your device, including:

  • imported or edited rclone.conf
  • local app preferences
  • thumbnail cache
  • preview and streaming cache files
  • temporary files written for playback or sharing

Some temporary media data may also be stored in the App Group shared container used for playback and inter-app sharing features.

5. Network Connections

When you use CloneView, the App may connect to:

  • remote storage providers configured by you, such as cloud storage services
  • OAuth authorization and token endpoints required by those providers
  • local loopback HTTP addresses such as 127.0.0.1 used internally on the device for playback and streaming features

We do not provide a central server that proxies all user traffic.

6. Third-Party Services

If you connect a third-party storage provider, your use of that provider is also subject to that provider's own privacy policy and terms.

Examples may include:

  • Google Drive
  • OneDrive
  • Dropbox
  • Drime
  • other remotes supported by your imported configuration

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services you choose to use.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not use the App for advertising profiling or cross-app tracking.

Data may be disclosed only in the following limited situations:

  • when required to connect to a storage provider selected by you
  • when you explicitly open content in a supported external player or share content using system features
  • when disclosure is required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request

8. Analytics and Tracking

CloneView does not intentionally collect analytics or advertising data from end users, and does not use third-party SDKs for ad tracking.

According to the current app privacy manifest, the App:

  • does not declare tracking
  • does not declare collection of user data categories for analytics or advertising

9. Security

We take reasonable steps to limit stored data to what is necessary for the App to function. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.

You are responsible for:

  • protecting access to your device
  • managing the credentials contained in your rclone.conf
  • reviewing the security settings of any remote storage provider you connect

10. Data Retention and Deletion

Data is generally kept on your device until you remove it.

You can reduce or remove stored data by:

  • deleting rclone.conf from within the App
  • clearing caches from the App's settings
  • removing the App from your device

Removing the App may not automatically delete files stored in third-party cloud services, because those files are controlled by the storage provider you use.

11. Children's Privacy

CloneView is not specifically directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. International Use

Because CloneView may connect to third-party services operated in different countries, your data may be processed by those services according to their own infrastructure and policies.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by revising the "Last updated" date above.
